Racing Green Engineering have announced that they are to add an Alfa to their line up of cars. Based on an RGE designed and built tubular chassis, the car will use Alfa 2600 mechanicals and a 6 cylinder Alfa engine to recreate the unmistakeable look of the iconic 2900MM Spyder.  The RGE car was unveiled to the public at the 2007 Goodwood Festival of Speed as a "work in progress".  It is planned to begin deliveries of customer vehicles during late Spring 2008.

Only three examples of the 2900MM Touring Spyder were made and the cars passed into Motor Racing folklore when they finished 1-2-3 at the 1938 Mille Miglia. Two of the cars have survived to modern times.  One was auctioned in August 1999, by Christies at Pebble Beach, it was bought for four million and seventy two thousand US dollars, making it one of the ten most expensive cars ever auctioned.

As displayed at "The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2007", the front wing of RGE's Alfa with the 6 cylinder engine and new tubular chassis clearly visible.

August 2007 - Two months on and more of the body work is completed and added to the buck.

The custom made wooden 'buck' is used to support the rolled aluminium panels during the construction process.  The wooden frame will be replaced with a lightweight tubular frame once the engineers are satisfied with the look and fit of the various panels.

The curvaceous rear end taking shape.  The sweeping curves in the aluminium panels are crafted by hand largely through use of an "English wheel" - a tool which has changed little in design in almost 100 years.
